Cuba
23. November 2008 until 12. January 2009

Most of our travelling was done by bus. Staying in peoples’ homes (casas particulares), was a great way to
experience the local way of life and getting to know the friendly Cubans better. They are generally very social-minded, good tempered, curious, relaxed and very patient. Waiting and standing in line for things is part of daily life and very time consuming. Loud music (salsa, Cuban hip hop) is played everywhere, day and night, even in local buses. Despite the lack of goods that have become so essential to our society, people here seem content and happy with the limited choice. Average temperatures were around 26 degrees, just right for travelling.
Cuba has been an enlightening experience.
