Panama
13. January until 7. February 2009

Panama City. Wow, what a different world compared to Habana! A mixture of American life-style combined with South American atmosphere. The “Big Ditch” (Panama Canal) is impressing.

We found paradise islands!!
Driving through the rainforest and crossing rivers in an off-roader, then being picked up by Kuna Indians in a canoe and brought to their village, was quite an adventure.
Living like the Kuna Indians meant sleeping in a bamboo hut, eating the catch of the day and showering with a bucket of rain water.

Bastimento, just a few minutes by boat from Bocas del Toro was our third destination. Colourful wooden houses on poles, mangrove forests, fantastic corals, dolphins, lots of starfish and roaring 4 meter high waves makes it a place to remember.

In Boquete, the coffee growing region of Panama, we were unlucky with the weather. Lots of rain, ghastly winds and intensive rainbows made us leave earlier than planned.
